Halloween

I was so looking forward to Halloween this year! I think I bought the girl's costumes in September!! Last year we didn't get to dress Leila up for Trick-or-Treating (don't get me wrong I am NOT complaining since we spent Halloween in Hawaii last year!!) so this year was pretty special being both girls first Halloween! I guess you could understand my disappointment when I noticed how hot Leila felt while giving me a snuggle. I took her temperature and it was 100.8, I figured it must be her molars bothering her again, for the past two days she's run a low grade fever and complained a little bit about her jaw hurting. About an hour later Leila sat down on the couch next to me (this never happens) and stares at the tv with completely glazed over peepers. I took her temp again and it had spiked to 102! Definitely not teeth! I started thinking the worst, it must be the flu. I told Justin to hurry home and take her to Urgent Care. Poor Justin and Leila had to wait 2 hours to be seen by the doctor. Leila is such a little trooper though, as crumby as she felt she was still happy and playing. Finally they get back to the room and the doctor figures it is an ear infection, he did a flu test to be safe (poor baby...if you've had one you know what I mean) and thank God it was negative. So now I feel so bad that for the last couple of days when I figured she was complaining about her teeth hurting really she had an ear ache! So now she is on antibiotics, which luckily the pharmacist was on the ball yesterday...the Urgent Care doctor had prescribed her 4x the dose than what she should have had!!! When they got home from the doctor she was famished, but seemed to be in good spirits, so we decided to let her trick or treat to a few houses right around the house. Our friends Clint and Rhiannon came over with their cutie little twin boys and t-o-t'ed with us. Leila was a lady bug (leilabug), Emmalene was a mermaid, Killian was a pumpkin and Graham was a little devil. Leila loved t-o-t'ing! She got the hang of it right away and was pretty disappointed when we had to call it a night so quickly, but I didn't want to keep her out in the cold with her ear. Emmalene didn't care one way or the other about Halloween this year. She was snug as a bug in her costume, so she was happy. I am really looking forward to next year when both kids will be walking and trick or treating! That will mean double the candy for mom and dad!!!
